The English Department Fest, Dyal Singh College, Delhi University
Day 2
The Day 2 of MADRIGAL began with a play The Silent Echo, the story of Dinesh with whom every student could connect, his problems and the crisis that he faced was shared, similarly how he got through with all the problems was to provide the students with the missing link in their life. Arts is not a subject you study and get done with, it really becomes a way of life. No sooner than you start learning it, you would feel its presence in each cell of your body. It has the power to entrench your very soul like no other discipline.
Another play that was lined up for the day was The Dead Poet's Society, based on the movie by the same name. The audience connected to the various problems faced by an arts aspirant in her life whose parents forced her to study science. The play not only challenged the hypocrisy of superiority of subject but also challenged the long ongoing debate about the same with its powerful and moving performance.
The second day was as great as the first day, each lined up event happened smoothly. The winners were announced at the end and were provided with the gifts and the certificates. The Organizing Committee was praised for the successful planning and execution of the event and then THE THABAL CHONGBA!
THABAL CHONGBA is the folk dance of Manipur where the only rule is set your feet on the rhythm while dancing. All the participants, teachers, staff members and everybody danced to the rhythms of Manipuri beats. The vibrant aura of the college ground attracted everybody out there to join in the huge circle that we formed and move to the beats of the Manipuri song. Everybody was happy and joyous although being extremely tired because of the sleepless twelve nights and hectic day schedules.
The dream of making the very first English Literary Fest, MADRIGAL 2015 was realized!! It was much more beautiful, successful and grand than it was thought to be.
It became the reason was something more beautiful and cherishing, it connected the students of all three years more closely than ever. We've shared a closed bond of a one big happy family which will remain for life.. :)
