MADRIGAL 2015

The English Department Fest, Dyal Singh College, Delhi University

Day 2

The Day 2 of MADRIGAL began with a play The Silent Echo, the story of Dinesh with whom every student could connect, his problems and the crisis that he faced was shared, similarly how he got through with all the problems was to provide the students with the missing link in their life. Arts is not a subject you study and get done with, it really becomes a way of life. No sooner than you start learning it, you would feel its presence in each cell of your body. It has the power to entrench your very soul like no other discipline.

Another play that was lined up for the day was The Dead Poet's Society, based on the movie by the same name. The audience connected to the various problems faced  by an arts aspirant in her life whose parents forced her to study science. The play not only challenged the hypocrisy of superiority of subject but also challenged the long ongoing debate about the same with its powerful and moving performance.

The second day was as great as the first day, each lined up event happened smoothly. The winners were announced at the end and were provided with the gifts and the certificates. The Organizing Committee was praised for the successful planning and execution of the event and then THE THABAL CHONGBA!

THABAL CHONGBA is the folk dance of Manipur where the only rule is set your feet on the rhythm while dancing. All the participants, teachers, staff members and everybody danced to the rhythms of Manipuri beats. The vibrant aura of the college ground attracted everybody out there to join in the huge circle that we formed and move to the beats of the Manipuri song. Everybody was happy and joyous although being extremely tired because of the sleepless twelve nights and hectic day schedules.

The dream of making the very first English Literary Fest, MADRIGAL 2015 was realized!! It was much more beautiful, successful and grand than it was thought to be.

It became the reason was something more beautiful and cherishing, it connected the students of all three years more closely than ever. We've shared a closed bond of a one big happy family which will remain for life.. :)

MADRIGAL 2015

The English Department Fest, Dyal Singh College, Delhi University

I am a bit late in recollecting all that happened in that two-day festival at my college which began from 12th March 2015 and ended on 13th March 2015 with the grand Thabal Chongba by Manipuri dance group.

I still remember the day when a meeting has been called up by the teacher-in-charge wherein all the class representatives along were called up. We've been assigned as event heads of various events that were to take place in MADRIGAL. Since it was to be the first ever department fest, even the name of the fest was not coined up by then. After rejecting too many names, finally MADRIGAL was the one selected by all of us. (I must make it a point to appreciate the democratic conductance of selection of name of the fest). We geared up ourselves, the final year students have a different kind of enthusiasm to deliver their best as they would never a chance to be a part of the conducting team ever! Everyone had a shared dream and that was to make MADRIGAL 2015, BEAUTIFUL!! <3

We, the Organizing Committee, as a family, took the entire responsibility for making this shared dream become a reality. I'm sure each one of us learnt multiple things in the course of those 10 days. I have to agree those 10 days from 2nd of March to 12th of March were the most amazing ten days of life. I never realized the potential of myself before. I was never sure of leading a team before I was given a responsibility to conduct- AMBIGUITY- The treasure Hunt Event. Since it was going to be the last event, it has to be great.

I'm glad to say that MADRIGAL 2015 WAS INDEED BEAUTIFUL!! The performance by Space Theater Ensemble was mesmerizing, they surely have stricken a chord in the hearts of each one sitting in the audience, their performance was amazing and the rounds of applause proved it to them. Every event that happened one after the other was more and more successful. We had participants from multiple colleges across Delhi, and the credit entirely goes to the amazing PR team we had. In a mere ten days of time, each work, from viral blogs to Facebook, to twitter to wordpress and even the pintrest had the event name registered followed up by the regular updates of the events. The PR team made sure to travel across 50 colleges of Delhi to post the final posters of the scheduled event.

The CREATIVE TEAM of the event would really require a special mention here for they made MADRIGAL 2015 literally beautiful. The decoration that was done was beyond these alphabets could express, I have really no words for the extra-ordinary work this team had done for the event. Kudos to the entire creative team of MADRIGAL 2015, you guys were remarkably superb!!

Each event-head was waiting for the scheduled time wherein he/she will have to take-over the stage to announce their event and carry the legacy of the fest forward with the matched zeal of the previous event. Round by round, the events at the first day happened smoothly and the day ended with the proud Organizing Committee members whose shared dream was being realized in that time and space.

We celebrated the success of Day One, contemplated the backstage problems that were encountered, resolved the crisis and geared up for the next day with the same zealous spirit that we had.
